Growing Your Own Food

March 18, 2015

As a kid my grandparents always planted a huge garden and together we all tended and harvested it. It would sustain 3 families through the coming winter and beyond. We mostly canned all the veggies and froze a few others. We picked berries in the wild and froze for winter cobblers and such and even picked wild fox grapes and made homemade grape juice. Because of my wonderful grandparents I grew up very in touch with how the earth provides if we will work hard and allow it. I wouldn't trade this childhood for the world. It taught me much. This year I have planted a small garden in our back yard to see if I can replicate what I saw my grandparents and my parents do before me. My little family and I are looking after our garden in the hopes it will bless us with some yummy veggies.  Even if the bugs and critters feed off of it my hopes are that my kids will see how growing your own food is a game of patience, sometimes luck and fresh food should not be taken for granted. So far the kids are super excited seeing seeds sprout and watching the growth bursts of our plants. They will be even more excited when they get to taste the fruits of their labor.

Food is expensive so when you can grown your own it really is like printing money!

Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday and sprout tons of fantastic ideas today!

If I had seen this at a garage sale I would have bought it for the frame and thought it was a cheapo print.😂 https://t.co/qXfyr0ReNC
